Inflammation, Scottish Terrier
Inflammation of the breasts
Normal nursing glands are soft and enlarged. Diseased glands are red, hard, and
painful. In general, the female does not act sick. The female may be sore and discourage the pups from nursing.
It is important to keep the pups nursing the affected glands, this helps flush out the infected material.
There will be few problems, dogs are excellent mothers, and their instincts
will take car of things. But it wont hurt to contact a vet if she seams sick or
has little to do with the pups.
Pups should remain with the mother for a minimum 8 weeks.
